OUR MISSION
For decades, the UK has grappled with the recurring issue of dog attacks, which periodically make headlines and leave us questioning the safety of our communities. The government has attempted various measures, including dog bans and euthanizing certain breeds, but these solutions have proven ineffective and costly. We firmly believe that the root of this problem lies not in the dogs themselves, but in the irresponsible actions of their owners.
At DogSafe we are proposing a new approach to tackle this issue head-on. Our innovative licensing system for potentially 'dangerous dog' owners aims to address the problem at its source. By thoroughly vetting potential owners through multiple platforms, we can ensure that only responsible individuals are granted the privilege of owning what is classed as a dangerous dog.

Applicants will be required to provide detailed information about themselves and their dog, including breed, age, and any relevant training or experience.
COMPLETE OUR ONLINE THEORY COURSE
A 2-hour theory course, followed by an exam, is required if you’re a first-time owner or haven’t owned a dog in the last decade.

Provide photo ID and proof of address:
To ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of the application, applicants must submit valid photo identification and proof of their current address.
Microchip the dog:
All registered dogs must be microchipped, enabling easy identification and traceability. We will require details of the dog including breed, dogs name and other verification details.
Undergo a criminal background check:
A comprehensive criminal record check will be conducted to ensure that applicants have no history of violent or criminal behavior that may pose a risk to public safety.
Provide evidence of a muzzle and correct lead:
Applicants must demonstrate that they possess the necessary equipment, such as a muzzle and a secure lead, to ensure the safe handling and control of their dangerous dog.
Obtain liability insurance for dangerous dogs:
Applicants must provide proof of liability insurance specifically covering any potential damages or injuries caused by their dog if it is catergorised as a potentially dangerous dog.
No previous complaints of animal abuse or neglect:
Applicants will be vetted to ensure they have no prior history of animal abuse or neglect, promoting responsible ownership and the well-being of the dog.
The whole process takes just minutes and we usually let you know if you have been accepted on the register within 48 hours.
Once accepted, you will receive an email with your membership number and details along with an information membership pack. We will also send out a double-sided metal DogSafe register tag for your dog's collar to easily identify that you and your dog are verified by DogSafe register.
